Puppy Care
Puppies first night in their new home
- Be sensitive to your puppy’s adjustment period in their new home. Don’t overwhelm them with too many people or too much activity that might make him/her fearful.
- Establish a permanent place for the puppy’s food and water. Show the puppy on different occasions until they get accustom to that setup.
- A small crate or confined area will be helpful in making the puppy a secure place to sleep and provides a get-a-way in any times of uncertainty or bashfulness. This will also be beneficial in the house-braking process.
- Place a ticking alarm clock in his/her crate or confined area. The puppy will not experience as much loneliness, as it is accustomed to hearing the heartbeat of it’s mother.
Adjustment Time
- Allow plenty of time for your puppy to become familiar with his/her surroundings before teaching obedience commands.
- Focus on teaching one command (such as: lay, sit, stay…etc.) at a time so your puppy does not become confused or overwhelmed. Keep in mind that although Goldendoodles and Labradoodles are very quick learners, they need consistent training patterns to follow. For more helpful info on training please refer to the training and care website links we have on the left, side menu.
To ensure a happy and healthy life maintain regular vet checks and vaccinations!
